White Named OFTC’s 2018 GOAL Winner

OFTC –Jamie White of Chauncey was announced as the Georgia Occupational Award of Leadership (GOAL) winner for Oconee Fall Line Technical College (OFTC) during a luncheon at the Sandersville Rotary Club on Thursday, December 7.

GOAL is a statewide program within the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) that honors excellence in academics and leadership among the state’s technical college students. White, along with two other semi-finalists were nominated by OFTC instructors and competed in a series of interviews and evaluations by a selection committee made up of representatives from local businesses and industries; they were judged on qualities like academic achievement, personal character, leadership ability and enthusiasm for technical education.

Other competing semi-finalists were Emalee Pane and David Kincade. All three were honored during the Rotary Club meeting and White was announced as winner at the close of the meeting.

White is enrolled in the Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) program at OFTC and was nominated by ECCE instructor, Gail Clark.

As the college winner White will compete in regional judging against winners from other TCSG and Board of Regents colleges in February and will represent OFTC at the state-level in April when one student will be named the statewide 2018 Goal winner in Atlanta.
