Welcome Back, Students!

I hope this note finds you and your families well as we all work to navigate a confusing time in the face of COVID-19. We are so happy to have you back at OFTC in a virtual environment beginning April 6, 2020. We are trying to meet your needs in a variety of ways. We ask that you continue to STAY in contact with your faculty member and advisor through emails, calls, and text messages.

Most faculty and staff are now teleworking while we only have essential staff and faculty on campus. Up-to-date information about OFTC’s response to COVID-19 can be found on the OFTC Web Page. Please CONTINUE to check the web site daily.

I’ve been deeply impressed by our faculty and staff as they have worked to address a whole range of issues. The faculty and staff have been truly inspiring, working tirelessly to shift our model of instruction from face-to-face to online in two short weeks. I don’t have to tell you what a undertaking this has been, on top of the personal disruption these wonderful people have faced on top of classes. Many of our faculty and staff, just like you, are now balancing children at home all day, too. I’ve been met with nothing but a caring and dedicated spirit.

In keeping with directives from the state and federal government to suspend large events and promote social distancing, all public events will be postponed including commencement. Students will still be able to graduate, consistent with academic standards, but the actual ceremony will be postponed. We will provide you with more information as soon as possible.

We will press forward through this challenge, and we thank you for your ongoing support and flexibility. Please say safe and practice the guidelines outlined by the CDC.

Yours,

Erica G. Harden
President
