Students Place 1st in 2017 SkillsUSA National Championship

Seven Oconee Fall Line Technical College students placed first in the 2017 SkillsUSA National Championships Opening and Closing Ceremonies where they competed as a team in an oral presentation explaining the symbolic representation of the SkillsUSA emblem in Louisville, Ky., June 19-23.

Nikita Mincey (Laurens), Stephanie Parks (Laurens), Virginia Pierce (Laurens), LaWhitney Clover (Laurens), Lauren Haywood (Laurens), Deric Thomas (Laurens) and Ainoa Silva (Laurens) each garnered gold medals for their role in the team presentation.

According to their website, SkillsUSA aims to improve the quality of the nation’s skilled workforce through a structured program of citizenship, leadership, employability, technical and professional skills training.
