OFTC’s Pharmacy Program Again Ranked 12th in Nation by TheBestColleges.org
Oconee Fall Line Technical College’s (OFTC) Pharmacy Technician Program was recently ranked 12th on the TheBestColleges.org list of Top 50 Pharmacy Technician Programs for the second year in a row.
The rankings were chosen by TheBestColleges.org after reviewing all accredited pharmacy technician programs in the United States and choosing the ones which offered students the best learning experience.
“The college is very excited to receive this award,” shared Tammy Bayto, Dean of OFTC’s Allied Health department. “Our Pharmacy Technology instructor, Jack Shepherd does an excellent job with the students. He has great rapport with area pharmacies and the statewide Pharmacy Technician instructor consortium. As a result, Mr. Shepherd always knows what’s new and needed in the program area.”
OFTC’s Pharmacy Technology program offers students a diploma or degree, both of which are designed to enable the student to acquire the knowledge, skills and attitudes for employment within a retail pharmacy or a hospital-based pharmacy department.
“The Pharmacy Technology Program at OFTC is fully accredited by ASHP/ACPE (American Society of Heath-System Pharmacists/Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education),” Shepherd said, “and we take pride in graduating students who are registered with the Georgia State Board of Pharmacy and Certified by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board.”
Both programs are offered on the college’s Dublin campus but general education courses and basic skills classes are available on the Sandersville campus and online, allowing interested persons from surrounding communities to take advantage of the program.
