Jennifer Eiland, Program Director for the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program at Oconee Fall Line Technical College (OFTC), was recently named to the International Foundation for Sonography Education and Research (IFSER) Board of Directors.

The IFSER is a non-profit organization whose mission is to improve access to quality education and information for the global sonographic community.

After working in the sonography field for 25 years, Eiland joined OFTC in 2020 to spearhead the college’s diagnostic medical sonography program.

“I am privileged to truly love the profession I chose as my career,” she said. “I enjoy diagnostic medical sonography and the many career paths it has to offer.”

“My own education instilled the importance of participation in professional societies and giving back to the profession,” Eiland added, “so I’ve always maintained a membership to a professional society and attended annual conferences when possible.”

After serving on the education side of her career, Eiland learned of IFSER and quickly identified with the organization’s mission. So, when an email came announcing a call for applications to IFSER’s Board of Directors, Eiland applied.

“It has been a career goal of mine for many years to serve in some capacity with a national professional sonography organization,” Eiland said.

After submitting her application, Eiland was selected for an interview and chosen to sit on the organization’s Board of Directors.

“I look forward to serving with other educators to bring quality education to our communities both locally and globally,” Eiland shared.

“I strive to instill the importance of professional membership and giving back to the profession in my sonography students,” she added. “By serving on this board, I hope they see that this truly is something I value and believe in, not just something I teach.”
