Strickland Recognized As Executive Leadership Academy Graduate
The Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) recently honored the graduates of its 2015-2016 Executive Leadership Academy (ELA). In a special ceremony, Oconee Fall Line Technical College’s Dean of Academic Affairs Michelle Strickland received a certificate of completion.
Participation in the academy is highly selective and required a 10-month commitment to complete the program. Dr. Lloyd Horadan, president of OFTC, nominated Strickland to participate.
Strickland had the opportunity to engage in unique leadership experiences with colleagues across the state, share her expertise and learn best practices.
“Participating in the Executive Leadership Academy provided me a deeper understanding of how the Technical College System of Georgia is making an impact in adult education, economic development, and workforce training throughout the state,” said Strickland. “One of the most rewarding parts of ELA was hearing the success stories from our current students, former students, and business and industry partners. I am honored to be part of OFTC and to represent TCSG within our communities.”
The academy is designed to acquaint participants with the leadership and managerial responsibilities of TCSG executives. While the program is specifically geared to the policies and procedures of the TCSG, the curriculum is sufficiently broad in scope to have application to public two-year colleges in any state and includes topics ranging from ethics and board operations to institutional effectiveness, accreditation issues, strategic planning and more.
Equipped with these additional leadership skills and strengthened relationships, Strickland will be able to use her experiences to help OFTC better serve its students and communities.
