OFTC Hosts Annual Career Fairs

Oconee Fall Line Technical College (OFTC) will host its annual career fairs July 19 in Dublin and July 21 in Sandersville from 9 am – 12 pm. The events are open to the public and will give local residents an opportunity to meet with potential employers and learn about important community resources.

Approximately 70 companies are slated to have representatives at both events, giving attendees access to a variety of sectors and industries.

“There are many local companies and organizations that are seeking employees, particularly those with the technical skills we teach at OFTC,” said Johnnie Edge, Dean of Student Affairs. “The programs we offer reflect the labor needs of our communities. We’ll also have members of our admissions and financial aid team available to walk participants through the application process.”

Edge offers the following tips for career fair attendees:

  • Dress professionally as first impressions are important.
  • Bring several copies of your resume.
  • There will be many applicants approaching employers at the same time—remain positive and be patient.
  • Send a thank you note or email after the fair. Most candidates won’t follow up with employers afterwards and this will help make you stand out.

The career fairs are just one way OFTC links trained students with area employers. The career services department provides students with individualized career counseling, assessments, interviewing tips and resume writing assistance. For more information, visit www.oftc.edu or call 478-553-2124.
