During NASCAR’s 2017 Xfinity Race at the Atlanta Motor Speedway, Saturday March 4, Oconee Fall Line Technical College’s logo was featured on the rear side of the 00 Stewart-Haas car.
OFTC’s Machine Tool Program teaches its Computer Numerical Control course using Haas Automation Equipment; and Stewart-Haas Racing, a joint venture between Tony Stewart and Gene Haas (owner of Haas Automation), has decided to feature their customers on their new two car team for 2017 which included drivers Cole Custer, 00, and Kurt Busch, 41.
“There are several schools that use Haas equipment,” shared David Hall, OFTC Machine Tool instructor, “and OFTC and Lanier Tech were chosen for this race.”
When invited to be featured on the racecar, the college was thrilled. “Haas Automation builds quality machine tools,” Hall shared. “We use Haas machines to teach our classes and we train our students to operate and program the machines so we were excited to get our name out there and be a part of this initiative through Haas Automation.”
