The college will maintain public health and safety guidelines which includes modifications to classes and day-to-day campus operations. Based on guidance from the Governor’s Executive Orders, the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the Department of Public Health, OFTC has developed a plan which will guide the college’s return to campus this fall.
Plans are in place to fully reopen the college under normal operating hours effective August 3, no appointments necessary.
OFTC will offer on-campus, hybrid, or online classes to students in August. Courses which require physical interaction and on-campus labs will be prioritized for in-person delivery.
In order to reduce the spread of COVID-19, OFTC plans to: stagger class start times, adjust class sizes, and comply with health and safety guidelines including but not limited to: social distancing requirements; encouraging personal hygiene practices; highly recommending the use of face masks and personal protective equipment; and routine cleaning and disinfecting of classrooms, labs, and common areas.
Appropriate signage will be placed on campus exterior doors stating requirements for entering including: the practice of safety guidelines like wearing masks; adhering to 6 feet social distancing; going home if sick or running a fever; avoiding the touching of the eyes, nose, and mouth; and using a tissue when coughing or sneezing, then disposing of the tissue.
OFTC encourages all students, employees and guests to adhere to and follow the recommended safety regulations and guidelines.
At any time should there be significant changes related to transmission of the virus, OFTC will follow appropriate guidance to alter their plan in order to prioritize the safety of students, employees and the community. This plan in subject to change based on the current recommended guidelines, and OFTC will adapt as needed to ensure the health and safety of students, employees, and the community.
