OFTC Nursing Students Attend Elder Abuse Seminar

Oconee Fall Line Technical College (OFTC) Practical Nursing students from both the Dublin and Sandersville campuses attended a seminar on Elder Abuse, Thursday, October 19.

The seminar was held on OFTC’s Dublin Campus and the presenters were Anna Ayers and Lindsey Greenwald who work for the Forensic Special Initiatives Unit (FSIU) of the Division on Aging, a division of the Department of Human Services.

The seminar was a condensed version of their At-Risk Adult Crime Tactics (ACT) training, which trains various professions about different types of abuse that can be directed towards at-risk adults (elderly, those over 18 with disabilities), key indicators of abuse, neglect and exploitation, and resources healthcare professionals can use if abuse, neglect, or exploitation is suspected.

This seminar provided OFTC’s Practical Nursing students with valuable information they can use as they begin their nursing practice.
