Mechatronics Students to train on State-Of-The-Art Equipment

Oconee Fall Line Technical College (OFTC) will begin its Mechatronics Technology program when fall semester classes begin August 28th. And when they do, students will train on a state-of-the-art Mechatronics Trainer.

OFTC is one of only two technical colleges in the state of Georgia to have this training machine.

Cheryl Daniel is calibrating the Mechatronics Trainer’s indexing station that inspects and rotates material to the next station.

“Mechatronics is a marriage of electronic and mechanical devices that are utilized to automate processes and handle materials in an industrial environment,” shared Lee Radney, OFTC Electronics Technology instructor.

This high-quality machine is composed of seven stations and a Fanuc Robot that assembles valve bodies. The Fanuc brand is the leading robot company in the world and the fact that OFTC students will have the opportunity to train on it is impressive, Radney shared. “This equipment will allow students to take a systems approach to understanding how electrical, mechanical and pneumatic components work together in a manufacturing environment and allow them to setup, program and troubleshoot these devices,” he added.
