OFTC T&I Instructors Tour Trident Refit Facility
Several instructors and staff members from Oconee Fall Line Technical College’s (OFTC) Trades and Industrial (T&I) programs recently visited the Trident Refit Facility Naval Submarine Base in King’s Bay in Kingsland, GA., to learn about potential employment opportunities for future OFTC graduates.
The instructors toured the entire facility and were briefed on the specific skills Trident Refit Facility uses in its Repair Department and Production Shops.
“The intent of the visit was to gain a better understanding of the job skills required of TRF’s workforce so [OFTC] can better equip their students with the knowledge and training that will one day lead to job opportunities in shipyards and facilities like TRF,” Trident Refit Facility shared on their public Facebook page.
“We were thrilled to be a part of this tour,” said OFTC Air Conditioning Technology instructor, Kevin Livingston. “We are always looking for potential opportunities for our graduates and we welcome the opportunity to learn more about specific skills certain companies are looking for in their employees.”
The Trident Refit facility personnel will be touring and visiting OFTC’s trade and industrial division in the coming weeks to better collaborate with personnel about future employment possibilities for OFTC’s graduates.
The visiting instructors and staff members were: Kevin Livingston, Air Conditioning Technology instructor; Joey Wooten, Commercial Truck Driving Instructor; Tony Martin, Machine Tool Technology Instructor; Harold Bozeman, Machine Tool Technology Instructor; Lee Horton, Industrial Maintenance Technology Instructor; Josh Bridges, Welding and Joining Technology Instructor; Jay Mullis, Dean of Student Affairs; Brent Redfern, Diesel Equipment Technology Instructor; and David Hall, Machine Tool Technology Instructor.
