Fall 2018 Hancock Strong Scholarship Recipients Announced

The Oconee Fall Line Technical College (OFTC) Foundation North recently awarded two OFTC students a Hancock Strong Scholarship for the fall 2018 semester.

The Hancock Strong Scholarship opportunities are provided by a former Hancock County resident who wishes to remain an anonymous donor and see the residents of Hancock County succeed and Hancock thrive as a result, shared Kathy Aaron, Executive Director of the OFTC Foundation North. “Congratulations to both recipients!” she added.

Shirlinda McClain of Hancock County is the recipient of the Hancock Strong General Scholarship the fall 2018 semester. She’s enrolled in general studies courses and is preparing to compete for the Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) program at OFTC’s North Campus in Sandersville. McClain plans to apply for OFTC’s Associate Degree in Nursing Bridge (ADN) Program and become a Registered Nurse (RN).

Amber Viles was also awarded a scholarship by the OFTC Foundation North for the fall 2018 semester – the Hancock Strong Allied Health Scholarship. Viles is a resident of Hancock County and is enrolled in OFTC’s LPN program in Sandersville. Her career goal is to become an LPN and then compete in OFTC’s ADN program to become an RN.
