Cassidy Morgan Receives Eastman Pilot Club Nursing Scholarship
Cassidy Morgan, an Oconee Fall Line Technical College (OFTC) Practical Nursing student, was recently selected by the Pilot Club of Eastman to receive their Joyce B. Jones Nursing Scholarship.
The Pilot Club of Eastman’s focus is brain safety and helping those with brain related disorders, diseases and disabilities, shared Nylan Hinson, Chair of the Scholarship Committee and Recording Secretary for Eastman’s Pilot Club.
“Since nurses play such an important role in helping people with these issues, we established the Joyce B. Jones Nursing Scholarship after a former Pilot member whose granddaughter is a Registered Nurse to award to a deserving OFTC nursing student in our area each year,” Nylan shared.
“We are so happy to be able to help Cassidy; she is very deserving of this award.”
The mission of Oconee Fall Line Technical College, a unit of the Technical College System of Georgia, is to contribute to the economic and workforce development of east central Georgia through quality technical and continuing education, adult education, and business and industry services. The College offers associate degrees, diplomas, technical certificates of credit, and non-credit certificates in a student-centered learning environment through traditional and distance education modes of delivery.
OFTC’s Practical Nursing program is designed to prepare students for the NCLEX-PN and licensure as practical nurses. The program prepares graduates to give competent nursing care. This is done through a selected number of academic and occupational courses providing a variety of techniques and materials necessary to assist the student in acquiring the needed knowledge and skills to give competent care. A variety of clinical experiences are planned so that theory and practice are integrated under the guidance of the clinical instructor. Program graduates receive a practical nursing diploma and have the qualifications of an entry-level practical nurse.
