Career & Job Expo Scheduled at OFTC this July
Oconee Fall Line Technical College (OFTC) will host its annual Career Fair and Job Expo in Dublin on July 18 and in Sandersville on July 20 from 9 AM to 12 PM.
The events are open to the public and will give local residents an opportunity to meet with potential employers and learn about important community resources as well as career training resources available at OFTC.
Every year a variety of companies participate at both events, giving attendees access to a variety of industries and employment opportunities.
“There are many local companies and organizations that are seeking employees, particularly those with the technical skills we teach at OFTC,” said Saketta Brown, OFTC Career Services and Disabilities Coordinator. “The programs we offer reflect the labor needs of our communities. We’ll also have members of our admissions and financial aid team available to walk participants through the application process if they’d like to enroll in one of our hands-on programs.”
Brown offers the following tips for career fair attendees:
· Dress professionally as first impressions are important.
· Bring several copies of your resume.
· There will be many applicants approaching employers at the same time—remain positive and be patient.
· Send a thank you note or email after the fair. Most candidates won’t follow up with employers afterwards and this will help make you stand out.
The career fairs are just one way OFTC links trained students with area employers. The career services department provides students with individualized career counseling, assessments, interviewing tips and resume writing assistance. For more information, visit OFTC.edu or call 478-274-7643.
OFTC’s $25 Admissions Application Fee for Fall 2017 enrollment will be waived on July 18th and July 20th at all OFTC locations.
