ADN Bridge Students Farley & Hay Awarded OFTC Foundation Scholarships

Two Oconee Fall Line Technical College (OFTC) Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) Bridge Program students were recently awarded scholarships by the OFTC Foundation – North, Inc.

Sterrett ADN Scholarship

Olivia Hay was selected by the OFTC Foundation – North, Inc. as the recipient of the Sterrett ADN Scholarship on the Sandersville Campus for the spring semester.

Hay is a resident of Cadwell, Ga., and drives to Sandersville weekly to attend the 8-hour class a part of the bridge program.

The scholarship was established in June of 2018 by former OFTC, then Sandersville Technical College, President Dr. John H. Sterrett and his wife, Linda Gray Sterrett.

Awards are made annually to deserving nursing students at the Sandersville Campus who are enrolled in the ADN Bridge Program.

Applicants must meet all the scholarship criteria, which includes a letter of recommendation from a nursing instructor, an essay written by the student on why they chose to further their career in nursing, a GPA in the top 50 percentile of the class, and an exemplary work ethic in the classroom.

Hancock Strong General Scholarship

Daphne Farley was selected by the OFTC Foundation – North, Inc. as the recipient of the Hancock Strong General Scholarship on the Sandersville Campus for the spring semester.

As a resident of Hancock County Daphne automatically qualified for the Hancock Strong Scholarship.  Daphne drives to Sandersville weekly to attend the 8-hour class a part of the bridge program.

The Hancock Strong General Scholarship was established by an anonymous donor from Hancock County in 2017 who has a desire to see residents of the community thrive in their college career goals and hopefully return to the area to live and work.

Applicants must meet all the scholarship criteria, which includes a letter of recommendation from a nursing instructor, an essay written by the student on what their future goals are, a GPA in the top 50 percentile of the class, and an exemplary work ethic in the classroom.
