Admissions for Transfer Students

Join us for your academic endeavor.

Applicants previously enrolled in one or more institutions of higher education who wish to enroll in a credit program can be admitted when the following are submitted to the Admissions Office:

Step One

Submit a completed application to the OFTC Admissions Office with your $25.00 non-refundable application fee.

Verification of Lawful Presence in the United States is required for students applying for in-state tuition.

Step Two

Submit an official copy of your high school, GED, and/or ALL college/university transcripts to the Admissions Office. Applicants who have completed a minimum of 30 semester or 45 quarter hours at the degree level may submit official college transcripts in lieu of high school diploma or GED. Official transcripts, in a sealed envelope, must be hand delivered or received by mail before registering for classes. Transcripts can also be sent electronically via services like Parchment, Credential Solutions, or National Student Clearinghouse to admissions@oftc.edu.

A high school diploma or GED is required for all associate degree and diploma programs and for most certificate programs. Special Education diplomas or Certificates of Attendance are not recognized for admission purposes.

Oconee Fall Line Technical College only accepts high school diplomas from secondary schools accredited by one of the following accreditation agencies. Acceptable accreditation must be in place when the diploma was granted. The following agencies are approved:

OFTC will accept a high school diploma from a public or private school that is not accredited by one of the above agencies but is regulated by a school system and state department of education.

Home School Transcripts

Applicants who were home schooled who attended an accredited program must submit:

  • Annual progress reports or a final transcript for the equivalent of the homeschooled student’s junior and senior years;
  • The final progress report or transcript must include the graduation date.

Applicants who attended a non-accredited high school or home school must submit an official transcript and one of the following:

  • Official scores from an assessment instrument meeting college established required minimums per Attachment 6.2.1a2.
  • Successful completion of 12 hours of college coursework for credit that appear on an official college transcript.

Foreign Transcripts

All foreign transcripts must be evaluated by an approved evaluation service and sent directly to OFTC.  Contacts for approved international evaluation services are below.

High school transcripts or diplomas should be evaluated by the document by document evaluation method.

Applicants with college credit or a degree from a college or university outside the United States must submit a course by course evaluation of the transcript.

Step Three

Submit satisfactory ACCUPLACER®, COMPASS, ASSET, SAT, ACT, PSAT, PreACT or GED scores. Test scores are used to determine program readiness by evaluating reading, writing, and math skills. In lieu of placement test scores, applicants may also provide an official transcript from a regionally or nationally accredited post-secondary institution showing satisfactory completion of appropriate English and math courses with a “C” or better.

Step Four

Complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) online at https://studentaid.gov/ and HOPE Application at www.GAfutures.org.

Step Five

You will need to attend registration and orientation if you are a new, returning, or transfer student. Your acceptance letter will indicate your registration/orientation location and date.
